Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. (1:27)
I should tell you all, I am "should" adverse. As a pleaser and over achiever, I have spent much of my life looking for all the hoops to jump through…until I broke, bone weary and in need of a lesson in grace and rest.
So this verse raises my should radar.
I do not think Paul intends it that way though It's not about being a good person or shining the fake joy of the Lord.
It's a response. To the gospel, the good news. The news that we do not have to strive, but have rest and much grace because of Jesus making the way for us. In light of his love, we honor him from our depths rather than shallowly shoulding.
Dear Lord Jesus, help us to rest in your grace, to soak in your love and live a life worthy of you. Fill us to overflowing with more of you today.

Just before the famous 4:13, Paul speaks about how he's learned to be content no matter the circumstances--rich or poor, well fed or hungry. The secret: God gives him strength in ALL circumstances. Paul trusts God to come through no matter what is happening to him
Now that is something I need way more than the strength to cliff dive or stick a landing, the strength to BE CONTENT no matter what.
