You are invited to join in our communities first official Bible study.
In the month of October 2019, we will dig into the book of James.
The study consists of:
- A study guide that will lead you through the daily reading and journals.
- Daily reflections here on the blog and on Instagram (@shepenstruth) as well.
- Daily discussion in the comments of the Instagram post.
- Weekly videos with gals just like you sharing their thoughts on a verse on IGTV as well as here.
To join in the fun, grab your study guide and meet us here or on Instagram on the 30th. Each week we will dig into one chapter in James, so the study will last for 5 weeks, ending on November 1. I cannot wait to see how the Lord will work in our lives individually and as a community!

Faith or Works, James 2:18-20
In this faith vs. works conversation, I have seen it as a Paul of Romans verses James. Here it is clearly Jesus who calls himself and us to a faith that acts, a faith that shows up mightily in God working through us. James writes to the believers in a time before the Bible was compiled. His words mirror Jesus’s words that a genuine faith DOES.
What is Faith? James 2:14-17
Yikes! This is a weighty section of scripture filled with centuries of grace vs. deeds debates. The question really comes down to “What is a saving faith?”
Love All People, James 2:8-13
We are not chained by the law of love. Our bonds are loosed and our souls can freely love others, not out of duty or “should”, but with the Spirit of the Lord coursing through us unbound.
