You are…Beloved.
Let’s begin with the basic definition from dictionary.com. Soak in this description of who you are in God’s eyes.

dearly loved.
Similar: darling, dear, dearest, precious, adored, loved, much loved, favorite, cherished, treasured, prized, esteemed, admired, valued

a much loved person.
Similar: sweetheart, loved one, love, true love, darling, dearest, dear one
When God looks at us, he sees Jesus. Of Jesus God declares, “This is my beloved son with whom I am well pleased.” (Matthew 3:17 ESV). We are his darling, his delight, his much adored sons and daughters. He created us uniquely, individually, with purpose and delight.
Do you have children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, or a puppy? When they are being themselves, does it make your heart sing? Do you treasure sweet moments with them? They are your beloved. In the same way, God sees you and your true self shining through and is filled with pleasure and wonder at who you are.
Today, let’s just receive this.

I used to think of myself as a strong person. Until I wasn’t. Until the waves of life knocked me off my feet and left me sinking in weakness. The chains that wrapped around me were subtle and seemingly good, until they had me in a depression death grip that would not allow me to breathe.
I grew up a competitive gymnast. I loved it, the determination it took, the joy of soaring through the air, and the satisfaction of a stuck landing. But it also taught me to perform for my worth. I learned exactly what hoops I had to jump through to earn the approval of coaches and judges. Subtly through me teens and young adult life, these lessons followed me long after I had hung up my grips and leotards. I hit my twenties with a laundry list of standards in order to feel good enough in my own eyes. Be the best teacher...
